Happy Father's Day to all the fathers and father figures out there!

Who doesn't love a good holiday to celebrate? Especially around the cold season. As June rolls around, keep in mind what important date it brings: Father's Day. It’s never too early to start planning out how to celebrate your dad.

History of Father's day.

Every year, families all over the world celebrate Father's Day by planning activities to honour the unique fathers in their lives. While your father most likely appreciates showering you with presents and affection on this special day, the ordinary father had a different perspective when the holiday was first established more than a century ago. In fact, Father's Day's history isn't a straight line from conception to acceptance. So, what is Father's Day, and where did it come from, and so on? We've got the answer, as well as anything else you're thinking of on this Father's Day.

Sonora Smart Dodd, according to legend, was the first to suggest Father's Day in the United States. Her father, Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, raised her and her five siblings. She requested a day dedicated to her father, similar to Mother's Day, in honour of her father's love and devotion to the family. On the third Sunday in June, the day was ultimately commemorated. Father's Day was originally observed on June 19, 1910. Father's Day became a national holiday in 1972, thanks to US President Richard Nixon.

Father's Day has also been embraced by other countries. While many people commemorated the father on the third Sunday in June, others chose alternate dates.

  • Fragrances

men perfume

Many people think that true gentlemen don't wear colognes — they say it's the only accessory to an outfit, and the manliness of said outfit isn't affected by what it’s worn with. Does that mean they don't like smelling nice? Do they look down on others who do? No — it means they just have a different idea of what smelling nice is. Maybe for you, it's one of those after-shave splashes that smell just like your father's shaving kit (which is a little unsettling). Maybe it's a clean, floral scent. Or maybe—just maybe—it's the cheap cologne you stole from your older brother's cabinet when he was in college.

Don’t stress!

One of the traditional father’s day gifts is a beautiful fragrance.

  • Books

Books are so much more than just paper and ink. Books are the gateway to a world of imagination, creativity, learning, and exploration.

Give him an audiobook that he can listen to while he's doing something else like mowing the lawn. You can get him the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite E-Reader, and get him to read his favourite books anywhere, anytime.

If you're not sure what he likes to read, check out his bookshelf and see if there are any books by his favourite authors on display.

  • Shoes

Fathers day boots

Wouldn't it be nice to get your dad a cool pair of Chelsea boots, Brogue, chukka boots, or a pair of Derby shoes for Father’s Day? He'll think you're the best daughter/son ever.

Boots are just one of the most versatile forms of footwear he'll ever own, that's for sure. A trend that seems to never go out of style, but is considered a staple in every man's wardrobe, boots are a great gift option for dads. When deciding what kind of boot to give your dad, you may have some questions - do I go with a zip-up or lace-up? Leather shoes are the top choice of many.

Just keep it simple: go for the classic ones. The ones that wear well with formal pants and go-to suits.

  • Plan a trip

Decided to take your dad on a trip!? That's awesome! Camping is a great way to get away from it all, and Prideinn Mara is the perfect place for you to do it. There are many options for a father's gift. It depends on how big you want to go. Don't just give him a tie, that's boring. And don't forget his wristwatch, a car, a hand-made photo frame with his favourite photographs and a grooming set will do the trick too.

So, all in all, if you were to ask me what gift I think is the best for fathers, the answer would be none but all. The best gift a father can get on this day is the love from his family and kids. If you had a gift, your father would definitely be moved. There are many custom gifts you could give your father on Father's Day, so think about something from this list.
